LANA's points of meeting etiquette reflect the core values of our organization as they set out guidelines for how we conduct our meetings.


  1. We will strive to be on time starting and ending meetings.
  2. We will respect one another.
  3. We will actively strive to engage all members of our community.
  4. We will embrace our diversities.
  5. We will ensure each will have a voice, but only one voice at a time.
  6. We will speak in turn, raising a hand to be recognized by the chairperson.
  7. We will listen to one another.
  8. We will focus and discuss only one agenda-driven topic at a time.
  9. We will strive for a high quality of communication: clear, direct, open, honest and timely.
  10. We will explore all points of view, democratically, before decisions or plans are made.
  11. We will help new members understand our group and its workings.
  12. We will create a climate of trust.
  13. We will help one another when required.
  14. We will strengthen our leadership by good followership.
  15. We will be the best we can be.
  16. We will be independent and self-reliant setting our own agenda.
  17. We will afford guest speakers precedence on our agenda.
  18. We will ensure participants understand our group and its workings.
