Prostitution Roundtable 2010 |
|
|
 |
The City of Hamilton has struggled with
prostitution and related issues for decades. Historically, lower city
neighbourhoods have suffered the greatest impact.
The residents of these neighbourhoods, with the kind support of
Hamilton Police Services, have initiated a unique roundtable
discussion. It is our goal to look at this historical issue from a
social needs perspective and draw up a ‘Made in Hamilton’ solution that
would improve the quality of life for all.
We will be taking a comprehensive look at the sex trade in Hamilton;
the causes, the risks, social issues, supports needed and
rehabilitation possibilities. The social and economic impact of sex
trade and ancillary issues will be examined as well as how successful
strategies and programs could improve the overall quality of life for
the City of Hamilton.
Our primary goal is to emerge not only with a broader understanding of
this complex issue, but a cooperative framework of programs and
services that are viable and acceptable to all facets of our community.
We hope that you will check back here for updated information as we continue on this path.
